June 26, 2025 virtual board policy review committee meeting

                   BOARD POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
                                   OF THE
                     DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                        June 26, 2025

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its virtual Policy Review Committee Meeting,
Thursday, June 26, 2025.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair convened the virtual meeting at 12:04 p.m. and noted
the following were in attendance in person, Mrs. Marissa Key, Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Mr. H. Eric
Hilton, and Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce. Mr. Elijah joined the meeting at 12:20 pm.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, and Mrs. Marissa Key presented the feedback on
Board Policies, BHA: Board Member Conflict of Interest, and BBD: Board Superintendent
Relations.

Ms. McGinniss requested a motion to recommend the policy to the full board as ready for action
at the July 14, 2025 board meeting. Motion by Mrs. Pierce, second by Ms. McGinniss, and with
a vote of 2/0, the motion passed.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, and Mrs. Marissa Key presented Board Policies:
LEC: Booster Organizations and proposed board policy LE: School – Community Organization
Relations.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS | COMMENTS
Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, stated at the next meeting the committee would be to
review of any recommendations, board comments, public comments for Ready for Action or
First Read policies and discuss any updates from previous policy meetings.

She also provided the date and time of the next virtual Board Policy Review committee meeting.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 @ 12:00 pm.

ADJOURN
With no objections, Ms. McGinniss adjourned the June 26, 2025, Board Policy Review
Committee meeting at 1:37 p.m.
