The DeKalb County Board of Education may from time to time enlist citizen groups to assist and counsel the Board.
Such advisory committees shall be representative of the community in relation to the task assigned and shall serve in
an advisory capacity only, making recommendations to the Board based on research and facts. The Board shall give
careful consideration to all committee recommendations, but the Board alone will have authority to act upon such
recommendations. For any such committee, the Board may approve committee bylaws setting forth the roles and
responsibilities of the committee, procedures for member selection and length of service, and procedures for
amending the committee bylaws.
The Board also supports the establishment of Superintendent’s advisory committees. Adoption of and changes to
Superintendent’s advisory committee bylaws may be approved by the Superintendent or his or her designee.
