P R O C L A M AT I O N
RECOGNITION
Veteran Substitute Employee Recognition Day
WHEREAS: Substitute teachers and paraprofessionals are essential in the education of our children,
though they rarely receive the recognition they deserve;
WHEREAS: Teachers and Paraprofessionals will on occasion be absent; therefore, needing an exceptional
substitute employee to provide a safe and orderly instructional environment; and
WHEREAS: Maintaining the usual level of instruction, discipline and tranquility in the classroom is crucial to
every student, and
WHEREAS: Every substitute teacher and paraprofessional must be very flexible in order to adapt to different
teaching styles and planning, as well as command the respect of the young people he or she may
be teaching on a given day; and
WHEREAS: On December 11, 2023, the substitute teachers and paraprofessionals of the DeKalb County
School District with 20 years of service or more will be recognized for their valuable and
meaningful contributions offered to the world of education on a daily basis.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the DeKalb County School District Board of Education does hereby
extend appreciation and acknowledgement for the impeccable service to the students of the DeKalb County
School District to employees who have served as a substitute for 20 plus years.
