                      CALLED MEETING AND EXECUTIVE SESSION
                                      OF THE
                       DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION
                                  October 24, 2023


The DeKalb County Board of Education held its Virtual Board Retreat, Called Meeting &
Executive Session on October 24, 2023.

Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Chair convened the meeting at 2:04p.m. and noted the following were
in attendance; Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Board Chair, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Vice Chair, Mrs.
Anna Hill, Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Mrs. Vickie B. Turner, and Superintendent, Dr. Devon Q.
Horton.

Also in attendance was Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Executive Administrator to the Board. General
Counsel, Ms. Melanie Slaton, and Facilitator, Ms. Clara Axam of Clarification and Mediation,
Inc.

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education adopt the October 24,
2023, virtual board retreat, called meeting and executive session agenda.

There being no objection, the agenda was approved.

ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. called for a motion to adjourn the October 24, 2023, virtual board retreat and
called meeting to an executive session for the purpose of discussing permitted matters regarding
litigation, land, legal, personnel, and student appeals. Mr. DaCosta, Sr. informed the public there
were no action items to be voted on and the meeting would adjourn directly after the executive
session concluded.

On a motion by Mrs. Hill, seconded by Mrs. Pierce, and a vote of 5/0, the motion passed to
adjourn the retreat to executive session.

ADJOURN
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education adjourn the October 24,
2023 virtual board retreat, called meeting and executive session.

Mr. DaCosta, Sr. noted there were no objections, the called meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
