April 19, 2023 called meeting and executive session

                      CALLED MEETING AND EXECUTIVE SESSION
                                     OF THE
                       DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                         April 19, 2023

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its Called Meeting & Executive Session on April
19, 202, in the J. David Williamson Board Room at the DeKalb County School District’s Robert
R. Freeman Administrative Instructional Complex, 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone
Mountain, Georgia.

Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Chair convened the meeting at 10:31a.m. and noted the following were
in attendance; Mrs. Anna Hill, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Ms. Allyson Gevertz, Mrs. Whitney
McGinniss. Dr. Joyce Morley and Mrs. Vickie B. Turner.

Also in attendance were General Counsel Attorney, Ms. Melanie Slaton and Dr. Yolanda
Williamson, Executive Administrator to the Board.

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education adopt the April 19,
2023, called meeting and executive session agenda.

There being no objection, the agenda was approved.

ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. called for a motion to adjourn April 19, 2023, called meeting to an executive
session for the purpose of discussing permitted matters regarding litigation, land, legal,
personnel, and student appeals. Mr. DaCosta, Sr. stated that the meeting would be adjourned
directly after the executive session.

There being no objection to adjourn to executive session, the April 19, 2023, called meeting
adjourned to Executive Session.

   1. ADJOURN THE EXECUTIVE SESSION AND RECONVENE TO AN OPEN
      SESSION
      Mr. DaCosta, Sr. apologized and corrected the statement about adjourning the called
      meeting after the executive statement. He informed the public that the board would
      reconvene and vote on an action item.

       Mr. DaCosta, Sr. requested approval to vote Dr. Devon Horton to be named the
       Superintendent of DeKalb County School District.

       Motion by: Mrs. Hill, seconded by Mrs. Turner.
       Motion passes 6 to 1. Dr. Joyce Morley opposed.

Mr. DaCosta, Sr. requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education adjourn the April 19,
2023, executive session and called meeting.

Mr. DaCosta, Sr. noted there were no objections, the called meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
