June 29, 2022 virtual called meeting

                             VIRTUAL CALLED MEETING
                                     OF THE
                        DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                          June 29, 2022

The DeKalb County Board of Education held a virtual called meeting on Wednesday, June 29,
2022.

Mrs. Vickie B. Turner, Board Chair, called the meeting to order at 10:31am and noted the
following were in attendance, Mrs. Vickie B. Turner, Board Chair, Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr.,
Board Vice Chair, Mrs. Anna Hill, Mr. Marshall D. Orson, Mrs. Deirdre Pierce and Dr. Vasanne
Tinsley, Interim Superintendent. Mrs. Gevertz joined at 10:45am. Dr. Joyce Morley was not in
attendance.

Also in attendance were Dr. Yolanda Williamson, Executive Director of Board Operations and
General Counsel Attorneys, Mr. Clem Doyle, Mr. Michael Deariso and Ms. Joyette Holmes and
Attorneys, Mr. Thurbert Baker, Mr. Ed Lindsey and Mr. Dan Baskerville of Dentons.

ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mrs. Turner called for a motion to adjourn the June 29, 2022, meeting to an executive session for
the purpose of discussing permitted matters regarding personnel, litigation, legal, land and
student appeals.

On a motion by Mr. Orson, seconded by Mrs. Pierce and with a vote of (5\0) of Board Members
present, the virtual called meeting adjourned to an executive session at 10:33am.

ADJOURN THE EXECUTIVE SESSION AND RECONVENE TO AN OPEN SESSION
There being no further business, Mrs. Turner called for a motion to adjourn the June 29, 2022
executive session convene to an open session.

Mrs. Turner noted there were no objections, the June 29, 2022, virtual called meeting convened
to an open session at 11:25am.

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
Mrs. Turner called for a motion to adopt the June 29, 2022, virtual called meeting agenda.

Being there were no objections, the virtual called meeting agenda was approved.

ACTION ITEM(S)

C.1. APPROVAL OF CHARTER RENEWAL ~ THE MUSEUM SCHOOL OF
     AVONDALE ESTATES

       It was requested that the Board of Education approve the Charter Renewal of The
       Museum School of Avondale Estates for a five-year term beginning July 1, 2022, and
       ending June 30, 2027. The approval will be subject to the conditions as approved by the
       DeKalb County Board of Education during its November 8, 2021, meeting, except that
       the condition regarding clarification of the current lease is hereby removed as a condition
       of renewal, as are references to the 3-year probationary term.

       On a motion by Mrs. Turner, seconded by Mrs. Gevertz, and with a vote of (5\0\1), the
       motion passed, with Mrs. Vickie B. Turner, Mrs. Anna Hill, Mr. Marshall D. Orson,
       Mrs. Deirdre Pierce and Mrs. Allyson Gevertz voting ‘YES’ and Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr.
       voting to ‘ABSTAIN’.

Mrs. Turner called for a motion to adjourn the June 29, 2022, virtual called meeting.

Being there were no objections, the June 29, 2022, virtual called meeting adjourned at 11:28am.
